Don't forget about Malia Obama's dog allergies
We shouldn't forget that allergies will limit the kind of dog President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle choose for daughters Malia and Sasha. An allergist makes the point that there's no such thing as an allergy-free dog, so the new Obama dog will have to be one that produces small amounts of dander.
"Unfortunately, there's not a 100 percent allergy-free furry animal in the world," Dr. Kimberly Ricaurte, an allergist and immunologist, told The Morning Call. "Any breeder who tells you differently is wrong."
Her suggestion: a Poodle or Terrier.
OK, so maybe the girls will sneeze -- but not too much.

The Obama family had a great choice of dog!
The most common method of distemper vaccination in dogs is injection with a modified live virus vaccine. Often this is given as a combination vaccine, an injectable vaccine that includes protection against other common canine diseases, such as parvo and adenovirus, along with the distemper vaccine. Other types of distemper vaccines available include killed virus based vaccine, which is rarely used.

Consider a Samoyed, regarded by many as hypoallergenic, and great with kids too.

Here is a funny article about which dog the Obama's should NOT choose...

Here's an excerpt
Common sense says there are some breeds that would be a definite no no. Imagine the scene at the first White house press conference when the reporter stands up and asks in a strong clear voice "Mr President, is it true that you have a Giant Schnauzer" (And it would be even more embarrassing if they had chosen the Miniature Schnauzer)
