Have the Obamas already found a dog?
This might qualify as a stop-the-presses news flash: A British man claims he offered his Shih Tzu puppy to the incoming First Family -- and the Obamas are interested!
Here's the back story: Bill Munnoch of Scotland is suffering from bladder cancer and worries that spending too much time in the hospital would leave the three-month-old dog, named Hamish, home alone. He sent an email to President-elect Barack Obama and received a callback from an Obama aide. The Obamas, Munnoch said, are considering his offer.
We're having too much fun speculating on the type of dog the Obamas might select for daughters Malia and Sasha, but we can't protest too much if they adopt Hamish. But won't someone have to grant the pup U.S. citizenship?

They do found a not so cute dog, "Bo" is the name of the mutt.

Hi,
You wrote a article on me and my wee Schitz-Tzu Hamish just over a year ago. Here is the latest news,I am now in full remission from my cancer, thanks to the medical treatment rceived, but I feel mainly thanks go to my wee pup,and I am so glad that your President decided to get a dog in the USA.Wee Hamish has given me so much to do training him, learning him tricks and all in all,I kept forgetting about my own problems and got on with his care.My family and I are now planning for the long term future, all thanks to a wee cute dog,and my medical team. Thanks again for your nice article,I received many best wishes from Americans, and from round the world, thanks to you.Kind regards,Bill Munnoch.

A Shih-Tzu would be a wonderful dog for the Obama family. I have a 6-month-old Shih-Tzu (my third Shih-Tzu) and they are wonderful dogs, very affectionate, very smart and very energetic. They have a long life span (15-16 years). I would love to see a Shih-Tzu in the White House to join this lovely family. They are I believe hypoallergenic dogs.

Sounds like a good deal for the Obama family. I hope they take up the offer.

I know a family with a Wheaton Terrier...it's a perfect dog for the Obama girls...nonallergetic and very sweet, but big enough to not be exactly "girly"....now we don't want to be "sexist" do we?

A Shih Tzu? Seriously? I have nothing against them, but they're not exactly what I'd consider to be a "presidential" breed.
